Weekly Rounds Vol. 82

It’s kind of crazy to me that it’s Friday again, but I’m definitely not complaining. I had Monday off and am working from home today on account of the fact that it’s just too damn cold to make the trek to the office. It’s currently -4 degrees with a windchill of -22! So I’m cozied up with my computer, wishing I had a Sweet Mandy B’s cinnamon roll (never not thinking about these, to be honest).Sweet Mandy B's cinnamon rollI sort of felt like I was just going through the motions this week and didn’t make near the amount of headway on my to do list as I would have liked and I was so, so tired (that last part mayyyy be due to the fact that Sunday was a very fun day watching the Chiefs in the playoff game). Trying not to beat myself up about it, but I definitely need to crank some things out before Junior Council’s Snowball tomorrow night! I can’t wait to get all dressed up and spend the night with some of my favorite gals. I ordered this dress for the black tie occasion and as soon as I slipped it on, I didn’t want to take it off. It’s definitely one of those that makes you feel 💥. I decided to go with a pair of heels I already have in my closet, but I’m thinking about adding these black strappy heels to my wardrobe because I need a new pair that aren’t block heels. I’ve heard Schutz shoes hold up really well! (the second pair I linked are from Sam Edelman and are identical to the ones I bought a few years ago)

I got to Shred Tuesday night and took my new favorite class at Studio Lagree yesterday afternoon. I had every intention of recording some of the moves for my stories but my legs were shaking so bad after class I didn’t have it in me. Might need to rethink this and try and do that beforehand from now on haha. My goal is to get myself to Shred later this afternoon and then again tomorrow morning (both with my favorite instructor, Fadil!), and then round out the weekend with a restorative candlelit yoga class at Studio Three tomorrow night.

I’ll let you get to the round-up of things I loved this week. I hope you enjoy!

AROUND THE WEB/WORLD:

  • I teamed up with my friends at Shred to give away a month of unlimited classes over on Instagram (closes on Monday 1/28!), and if you’re not in Chicago but are looking to try a few new classes to kick off the new year, you can still get your first month of classes free at ClassPass here!
  • I rounded up the best Valentine’s Day gift ideas and my plans for the night last week! Are you going to celebrate?
  • Also, working on a post featuring pieces to help you give your workout wardrobe a refresh and fell in love with these workout tights (the sheer paneling gives them a little something extra!) and couldn’t wait to share. Have any of you tried the Onzie brand?
  • I don’t know what it was about this little bag, but I kept coming back to it and after getting it in the mail this week, I can confidentially say it’s even better in person. The Staud bag is a bit out of my comfort zone, but I think this may be the year I experiment with my style more.
  • I love reading the salary stories and this one in particular really resonated with me because it covers someone working in communications, which is what I do full-time.
  • After the Chiefs lost I said my only real plans for the super bowl were to make a bunch of good food and veg out. Thinking I could do a few different things with this buffalo chicken recipe!
  • Vintner’s Daughter is launching a treatment essence and I’m dying to try it. I’ve long since been out of their active botanical serum and haven’t reordered simply due to the price, but honestly, I’ve tried so many different things since then that fell short that I’d probably have been better off splurging.
  • I finally replaced my Brita pitcher and decided to go big with this one. Being back home in Kansas over the holidays reminded me how much I dislike the taste of Chicago tap water and I know I should be filtering it for health reasons!
  • Like I mentioned above, it’s bitter cold here and my face has been taking a beating. I’ve been applying the Josie Maran Whipped Face Butter and then layering the Dr. Jart+ Water Fuse hydro sleep mask on top of it to try and combat my poor, dry skin.
  • This cutout dress from Fame and Partners (same brand I ordered my dress for Snowball!) is so gorgeous and perfect should you need something to wear as a wedding guest in the coming months. I think they might be my new go-to for dresses.
  • If you’re not looking to hibernate the weekend away, take a look at my Chicago guide and pick a new-to-you restaurant to try! (Unless, of course, you’ve already tried all of these…then you tell me where I should go next 😉 )

Whatever you’re up to this weekend, I hope it’s the best! I’ll be sharing in real-time over on Instagram stories, so be sure to follow along there!
