Workout Wardrobe Refresh

I’m a big proponent of investing in workout wear that will last simply based on the fact that my spandex and sports bras get the most mileage out of anything else in my closet! Not to mention, it’s a one and done type thing when it comes to wearing and washing.  the best workout wearI’m a stickler about washing my workout wear in cold water and I always hang it to dry, which  probably sounds like a pain, but it prevents the fibers from breaking down (this happens when you wash in hot water and dry on high heat). Not only does this help the pieces last longer, but it also keeps the cost-per-wear down and makes me feel better about investing a little more.

It’s about this time each year that start to crave a little workout wardrobe refresh which always gives me a little boost of confidence in the gym!

I’m really excited to dive deeper into my yoga practice in the coming months and push myself to try new things on my mat, even if that means failing. I’ve been taking a lot of hot yoga as of late but have found myself getting overheated and I ultimately end up taking off whatever tank I’m wearing leaving me in just my sports bra. I’ve been on the hunt for something that will provide slightly more coverage than the sports bras I typically wear for low impact workouts so I don’t have to strip mid flow and still feel comfortable. Insert: the crop top. I love the details on this Kate Spade x Beyond Yoga top and this strappy black and gold number takes gym chic to a whole new level.

Athleta makes some of my absolute favorite workout tights and I’ve been so impressed with the quality of their tanks which are a step up from the ones I’ve found at Old Navy, but that doesn’t mean I don’t have a few of those hanging in my closet, too.

I did that thing where I left my glass water bottle in the freezer for a liiiittle too long only to remember it was chilling in there (no pun intended) after it was too late. The water had frozen and shattered the top of yet another bottle (this is why I can’t have nice things 🤦🏻‍♀️). Third time’s a charm, I hope!

I’ve been really curious about charcoal lately and I’ve seen this detox bath popping up on Instagram and it has me intrigued. After talking with my friend May about the activated charcoal trend we’re seeing on the health food scene, I decided it’s probably best to find other ways to test the detox benefits it’s said to provide and this seems like a post-sweat soak is safe start!

Also, super gross, but I read this article a while back that compared sweat sitting on your skin post-workout to the fat from bacon grease congealing in the pan after frying it and that was enough to convince me to at least use a face wipe right after class.

A few other favorites: a vest to layer – great for weekend errands, a supportive sports bra, the best calming mist, and a pair of grippy socks – perfect for trying out [solidcore] which has been on my radar for far too long now!

I haven’t tried Athleta, but I love the Old Navy leggings (the price doesn’t hurt either. I love their pants. I’ve also been slowly buying more stuff from the New Balance x J.Crew / J.Crew Factory lines.

Also, I should have worn grippy socks when I tried solidcore, that would have made it so much easier! (Actually, maybe I did? I can’t remember the class at all now.)

I guess that’s a benefit of working out at home when you live in SoCal, no need for fancy clothes or shirts…sports bras are good all year round! Have you tried Kayla Itsines’ Sweat app? It’s the best workout and so easy to stick with!

Yes, so true! Lucky 😉 I haven’t actually! But I’d love to have something to do at home on days when I don’t make it to a class/when I travel. Hope you had a great weekend, Katie!
