Weekly Rounds Vol. 16

mango blackberry sangria recipe

May, is that you?! I can hardly believe that we’re moving into another new month. The rapid rate at which time seems to be moving continues to blow my mind. And I would be lying if I said it didn’t scare me a little bit. I had high expectations moving into 2015 and the turning of another calendar page means I need to kick it into high gear.

This week started off on an extremely productive note – dare I say that Monday is my new favorite day of the week? Wednesday on the other hand…well, she knows what she did. How was your week?

Get your weekly dose of goodness below:

  • Alright, let’s just get this out of the way. I’m holding up my end of the bargain here and letting you all see my first ever TV interview. I had the opportunity to talk about my recent job situation and how I’m preparing for the future with a local news station here in Kansas City. You can watch it here – start at 0:42! Side note: I talked about eliminating the word “just” from my vocabulary last week, but I need to do the same for the words “kind of.” I didn’t kind of do anything, I did it 😉 Chalk it up to nerves.
  • How delicious does this Mango Blackberry Sangria Recipe sound? Answer: mouthwatering
  • My version of a Mother’s Day Gift Guide – find someone else who does it great and let them take the lead! Time is ticking for those last minute orders.
  • Grace’s feature on Career Contessa is a great reminder to “work hard in silence and let your success be your noise”
  • Need these shorts (in orange!) for running…not to mention they would be great for bumming around at the lake this summer. Helloooo, Table Rock.
  • The shorts would also pair well with my new tennis shoes that air light as air and oh so comfortable. Heaven on my feet!
  • Bloggers: Lindsay is keeping me in check and it seems I have some work to do when it comes to these SEO tips. What about you?
  • If you’re looking to up your floral arranging skills, I’ve got tips from the expert herself
  • Cara shared her thoughts after her first year of blogging and I couldn’t agree more with her when she says, authenticity is never wrong
  • Elevate your closet and beauty cabinet this spring with these picks
  • If you’re getting married in the near future, be sure to read up on how to find your perfect wedding hairstyle!

I’m looking forward to a low key weekend compared to the ones I’ve been having as of late. I’ll be venturing out for First Friday this evening and I’m taking my first Pilates class tomorrow with Shanley, but other than that, I’m free as a bird!

Congrats on your first TV appearance!!! You did great and we all have our “words”. Mine is “ummmmm” – terrible!

    Posted 5.2.15 Reply
    • Why thank you! haha the funny thing is I was so focused on not saying “umm” that I ended up saying “kind of!” oops. Also, I’m coming up to Chicago in July for the Simply Stylist Conference and I’m staying a few days with Sarah. What are the chances you will be going?! 🙂 If not, maybe we can meet up for some fun while I’m there? I hope you’re getting all settled into your new digs!

I know what you mean about “kind of”! Viewing yourself on tape is so painful but necessary!! I am practicing as much as I can to get better at public speaking! I found “Own the Room” (and their book) to be extremely helpful!
