Accountability

sunset on a Kansas evening

I’ll start by saying this is not the post I had planned for today. Not even in the slightest. But I switched things up last minute with good reason, that reason being I need some accountability in my life. Maybe you do too?

I’m sure you’ve heard before that verbalizing your goals or sharing them with a friend means you are more likely to achieve them. I know we’ve discussed the importance of putting yourself out there countless number of times around here and by this point, I might be teetering dangerously close to sounding like a broken record.

So, in an effort to get myself back on track, I’m letting you peek at the list I’ll be focusing on this week.

Goals for the week:
– Do something active everyday (walk, run, yoga, classes at Health House, something…anything. Just move.) Confession: those back-to-back classes I was supposed to take on Saturday morning? Ya, they didn’t happen. I could barely sit down from the class I took on Thursday! They say it will get easier and I’m hoping that a little extra stretching post class helps with the soreness.
– Head to a coffee shop or juice bar with my laptop in tow instead of planting myself at my desk all day (at home)
– Get back to using a face mask once/week
– Cook meals at home. Let’s just say, I’ve frequented just about every patio within a 20 mile radius over the past few weeks and even though it’s the perfect weather for it, I’ve got to get it in check
– Start watching the YouTube videos I have bookmarked on how to use my DSLR camera and if I can’t seem to figure it out on my own from there, enroll in a photography class at the Kansas City Art Institute. If you have any great tutorials, send them my way!

I’m also looking forward to my first mastermind call this week with an awesome group of gals! Doubling up on the accountability never hurt anyone.

p/s how gorgeous is this sunset I snapped yesterday at my parent’s house? They have it made.

These are great goals and something you will accomplish! I believe you can do it!! I’ve been setting out my clothes/ packing my bag at night for the next day and that’s really helped me getting my butt going in the morning!

  4. Love this post. I had a long commute into work today and was reflecting back to a podcast I listened to of The Lively Show about Accountability Partners and was thinking i need to talk to my friend and set accountability goals for this week. I’m keeping my list short and focusing on activity. I want to finally give the AM spin class at my gym a go (I have only ever tried the evening one) and I want to get in at least 10 miles in addition to my workout classes.

Putting it out there is the best way to hold myself accountable too! Once I’m back in town next week I want to get back to working my way through my Pinterest recipe boards!

    • If I know people are watching me, or expecting me to follow up, I’m far more likely to actually do it! That sounds like a great plan 🙂

    • I learned that scheduling that time in as if it’s a work appointment or some other type of meeting helps me stick to it!

    • I’ve been great about moisturizing lately, but not so great at the mask, which really seems to help my acne prone skin!

    • Agreed! That’s what I’m hoping to do as well by eliminating some of the money that has been going toward those patio visits 😉 have a great week, Amy!
