Palette Change

We’re still a few weeks out from the official start of fall, but after talking with you guys on Instagram stories, you’re more than ready to start filling the gaps in your wardrobe for the season ahead!fall outfit ideas

Fall fashion is my absolute favorite. I love the darker color palettes (all black everything, please) and layering that come with the cooler months. I also think it’s a lot easier to mix and match when it comes to your fall outfits!

My current wardrobe is lacking just about everywhere. I did a massive closet clean out (so much so that when Maya came over last weekend she actually said, “Jess, where are all your clothes?!) and I’m really excited to fill it with pieces that are reflective of my style and where I’m at in life. (Side note: I was struggling to find make time to upload things for sale on Poshmark and as fate would have it, a gal named Allie reached out about that time saying she works with people to sell their gently used items! I happily sent her home with a trunk full of things I no longer have use for and she’s been uploading them to her Mercari, Poshmark, and eBay accounts. If you’re interested in shopping my closet, that’s where you can find everything! It’s amazing how much lighter my space feels just by getting those things out of my apartment).

By now you know I’m all about mixing pricier classics with items that I might not hang onto quite as long (often times trendier items or things like plain tees that wear out quicker than, say, a nice sweater). I justify big purchases by cost-per-wear because at the end of the day, I’d rather have one killer pair of suede booties I reach for again and again for several seasons than three pairs of boots that just make me feel so-so when I slip them on.

This mock neck sweater is currently sitting in my online shopping cart (in black, of course, but it comes in other colors too!) and it would look great with a plaid skirt (I originally fell in love with this plaid mini skirt, but it’s honestly one of those items I can’t justify the price on) and loafers now and then over-the-knee boots and tights come winter! I still swear by my Stuart Weitzman 5050 suede boots and have worn them more times than I can count.

These Levi’s distressed jeans are a total steal (on sale for $58!), but reviews say that they run small so order a size up! Pair them with a pair of white tennis shoes and a button up and for an easy weekend look or with a printed crop top and suede booties for date night.

Other items on my radar: fabric fresh from The Laundress (I never want to hand wash another sweater again 🙃 Have you tried any of their products before?), a new black tote, and a replacement for my favorite crossbody bag from Cuyana.

Last thing! A few of you mentioned you’re shopping for pants for work and I’m obsessed with my wide leg pants from Ann Taylor. Not only are they ridiculously comfortable, but they can be dressed up for the office (just add a sweater – I love this one from J. Crew last worn here!) or dressed down for a weekend outing with friends (try knotting a pocket tee in front and pairing with block heels). I will say, they run big (I ended up going down to a size 00 and I’m usually a 4) so keep that in mind when ordering!

What are you shopping for this fall? I’ve got a few more round-ups in the works per your requests, but if there’s something specific you’d like to see, let me know!
