From Adnan to Vuitton

Easy does it on Wednesdays. We’ve got important things to cover – like Adnan and Louis Vuitton.
Untitled #24

I won’t keep you waiting…

My Nana is going to c-r-i-n-g-e when she reads this, but it must be said. When I graduated high school she gifted me a Louis Vuitton coin purse and it was my most prized possession. The woman has a keen sense of style and a taste for the finer things in life – to which I say, keep doing your thing, Nannie. After carrying it around as if it were my own flesh and blood for several years, I came to the horrifying realization that it was missing one day at work. After I made the discovery I did a quick scan of the area and had a chat with security at the front desk – no luck. I still think about it to this day, so I’ve made the executive decision that when we venture down to Houston in a few weeks, I’m going to splurge for a replacement at The Galleria. Even though it won’t have the 10 years of wear (uh, is this number shocking to anyone else) that it would if I still had it today, it will remind me of her every time I pull it out.

Allow me to state the obvious: I’m late to the game when it comes to the Serial podcast. It finally sucked Pete and I in a few weekends ago when we found ourselves with several hours of driving time and spotty radio signal coming from our favorite stations. We were savoring the last few episodes, but after this potential alibi came out yesterday I’m more anxious than ever to get caught up to speed. Have you listened? What’s your take?

I’m a firm believer that one can never own too many stripes (see here), which is why I swooped up this striped top without hesitation. That and the fact that it’s on sale for less than the price of a meal at my favorite restaurant. Wardrobe no-brainer.

Essie’s Jump In My Jumpsuit has been gracing the tips of my fingers since it showed up on my doorstep back in December. Perfect red with a hint of pink – just in time for Valentine’s…or Galentine’s, whichever you prefer!

Your grandmother will have the wonderful pleasure of knowing she was the one to introduce you to such a wonderful item. So there’s that. Also, I am going to start Serial tomorrow morning, yes, it’s on my calendar, and I am sooooo excited!

  4. I’ve been obsessed with Serial since I started listening (I started when episode 8 was out, so I was late too) It’s engulfing – you really get lost in the story! I’m not sure if Adnan was involved, but it certainly wasn’t enough to convict. Did you see Jay’s recent interview? Read it only after you finish Serial: https://firstlook.org/theintercept/2014/12/29/exclusive-interview-jay-wilds-star-witness-adnan-syed-serial-case-pt-1/

  6. I haven’t started Serial… Am I like the least cultured person ever?

Bummer about the LV- can’t believe someone took it! Argh. But your replacement will be lovely and that leather breaks in fast (they don’t treat the handles/lighter leathers of the classic LV, so it browns up really nicely with everyday wear). 🙂

Oh no!! That’s so sad about your coin purse, I think replacing it is exactly what your Grandma would want!! And getting to buy it at a LV store would feel super duper awesome!! 🙂

I listened to Serial on my drive back to Iowa last weekend– it was so captivating!! It made the 5 hour car ride (both ways) a lot better!!

Yes! Definitely treat yourself to a new one 🙂 As for Serial, I can’t wait for you to finish! I was late to the game too, but I couldn’t get enough once I started the podcasts! I keep searching for articles about the story and Adnan, even weeks after finishing.

Losing something is the WORST feeling! Believe me, I’ve had my fair share of those moments (unfortunately). I’m sure your Nana loved seeing you carry it around for 10 years – that’s impressive!

And I haven’t been sucked in to Serial yet, but it’s only a matter of time. You’ll have to let us know what you think! 🙂
