Spring Investment Items (plus the Shopbop Sale!)

Happy Monday, friends! How was your weekend? Mine didn’t really go as planned (I wrote more about that on Instagram), but the cliff notes version is that I was ghosted…twice. 🙃 Even though my head knows it says more about them than it does about me, it still stings the heart a bit and is a big blow to the ego.
the best pieces to invest in for springBut I’ve decided I’m not going to give any more of my energy to those situations as I likely dodged a few bullets and will be better off for it in the end.

With that, a little retail therapy was in order! I’m more than ready to retire my all black ensembles and welcome some color back into my wardrobe (even if it’s just a slightly lighter navy palette 😉 ). Shopbop’s big pre-spring sale is going on now through March 3rd and is the very best time to stock up on spring investment items! The sale itself is as follows: 15% off orders of $200 or more, 20% off orders of $500 or more, and 25% off orders of $800 or more with code GOBIG19.

I picked up this clear handbag last month and it’s even better in person! I’m not usually one to indulge in trends and like to stick to what I know (crossbody bags) but I know I’ll get tons of wear with this one. You can dress it up or dress it down and it’s just so cute and fun to carry. I also ordered this midi dress (also available here with free 2-day shipping! And also here) and these white leather tennis shoes and plan to wear them together with my Staud bag and my leather jacket for a laid-back weekend look. Pairing the dress with strappy nude heels and tortoise hoop earrings gives you a more elevated outfit without any fuss!

When I’m making purchases, I always think about the number of ways I can wear an item. This chunky knit sweater is super versatile and would look great with cropped jeans (sadly, the pair shown above are almost sold out, but I’ve seen the cropped pants from Everlane on a few people and they’re incredibly flattering and under $70!). Again, you can dress the pants down with sneakers or add a blouse (this print also comes in a dress!) and block heels for an easy date night look! I hate that we’re still talking about coats, but this is Chicago and I’m somewhat of a realist, this plaid coat is on the lighter side and perfect for the transition from winter to spring.the best wedding guest dressA few of you mentioned you’ve got a calendar full of weddings (so fun!) and are in search of what to wear. I can’t say enough good things about this dress (it’s sold out, but they have this one that is super similar! I got so many compliments on it when I wore it to Snowball and am dying to have a reason to put it on again! I also love this dress and think this pink number would be so pretty on.

Oh, and can’t forget about my carry-on luggage (also comes in a luggage set) and is part of the sale. If you’ve been thinking about pulling the trigger on new luggage for those upcoming summer trips, now is the time!

Somewhat random, but on my radar nonetheless, this striped sports bra and mesh workout tights from Athleta!

The full sale details (including exclusions) can be found here. A lot of the pieces I featured here and here are part of the sale, too!
