Weekly Rounds, Vol. 84 & Life Update

Happy, happy Friday! I hope you’ve had the best week. I share so much of my day-to-day in real-time on Instagram stories, but of course those don’t last long, so I feel like we are beyond due for a proper catch up.florals for pop-up truckReally the only thing I love more than music is experiencing it live and I definitely got my fix with three shows in one week! Last Friday night I saw Rainbow Kitten Surprise at Riviera Theatre in Uptown and then on Saturday I grabbed a last minute ticket to Gryffin and both were so incredible in their own ways. Gryffin was probably one of my favorite shows to date!

Wednesday I celebrated Galentine’s Day with my Chicago girls at the new Parson’s in Lincoln Park (Katie brought a heart-shaped chocolate cake from Portillo’s!) and then last night I grabbed dinner and drinks at Prost (side note: ask for Ben – he’s the best) before The Knocks show with Melissa. I don’t know if I just had really high expectations after back-to-back shows last weekend or what, but it didn’t end up being anything special. We were having such a good time before that I honestly would have been content sitting and talking over drinks for the rest of the night! floral pop-up truckEthos is finally open and getting back in the gym with Tim and Victoria has me feeling super motivated annnnd super sore. The way we’re moving in the classes they’ve created is unlike anything I’ve ever done before. I did my first assisted pull-up and fell in love with the sled, which is much harder than it looks!

I was super grateful the Stretchlab team invited me in to try their assisted stretching session because my body needed it. I did the 50-minute, full body session and practically floated out of there. I’m definitely one of those people who knows how important it is to get in recovery, but I don’t make time for it nearly enough as slowing down isn’t my strong suit. I’m still dealing with quite a bit of pain in my upper left shoulder/back, but I hope that pairing this with the mobility homework Victoria gave me will relieve some of that. I like the idea of having a set appointment once a week to hold myself accountable just like my other workouts!

My best friend Whitney is on a flight here to spend the long weekend with me and I’ve never been more ready to see her! After flights were cancelled due to the snowstorm last month I was feeling so down not knowing when she would be able to make it up here, but things turned around when we realized we could make this weekend work.

That’s it from me! I’ll leave you with this week’s round-up of links. I hope you enjoy!

AROUND THE WEB/WORLD:

  • I penned a little something about soulmates on Instagram earlier this week and it ended up being my most shared/saved post to date! The comments had me in tears.
  • This fabric shaver quickly became one of my favorite Amazon purchases (second only to my ice roller). It breathed new life into my wool coat and it couldn’t have been more satisfying to use!
  • I know a lot of you were looking for an alternative to the CALM magnesium powder and now that I’ve been taking these magnesium pills (just opened my second bottle) I felt comfortable enough sharing here! I wasn’t a fan of the way the powder tasted and find these to be much more convenient.
  • Love this oversized plaid coat from BB Dakota and it’s under $150. And this blouse is super versatile and would be perfect for the office or date night!
  • I stopped by the Ralph Lauren Romance pop-up in the Loop earlier this week and fell in love with the fragrance.
  • I Hope You Find Me is one of my favorite little books to flip through.
  • There’s a familiar face over on Lauren’s site! I had such a good time shooting with the girls that day and what she wrote about me was the absolute sweetest (made my whole week!).
  • I’ve been looking for a new pair of white sneakers to replace my leather Converse and am thinking about pulling the trigger on this pair from Frye after Mary-Katherine’s rave review.
  • Shopbop now offers my carry-on luggage in a set! I really can’t say enough good things about it.
  • This Valentine’s Day Q&A with Julia and Thomas was so much fun to read through. They’re the cutest!
  • I’ve said it before, but I never buy anything full price from J. Crew because come weekend, they’re bound to have a sale. They’re offering 40% off right now with code YESPLEASE (probably my favorite code ever haha). I just added this striped umbrella to my cart.

Whatever you’re up to this weekend, I hope it’s great. I’ll be sharing in real-time over on Instagram stories, so be sure to follow along there!

  1. Jealous of the musical week you had! How fun that you were able to pack in not one, not two, but three different shows! Even if the third wasn’t as great as you had hoped, it was something out of the ordinary day-to-day.

And you should TOTALLY get the shoes! I can honestly say that you will adore them. I mean I could say more but I already went on and one about them hahahaha.

Hope Whitney makes it into town and you guys have the best weekend together!
