Fall Bucket List

I’m so excited to share my fall bucket list with you guys! I’ve said it before, but these lists have quickly become my favorite posts to put together for several reasons. #1 being that I’ve never met a list I don’t like.fall bucket listAnd #2 being that they help me take full advantage of the season ahead (even though a lot of times I don’t get to everything I always come out feeling like I experienced more than I would have without it). I think I underestimated just how quickly Summertime CHI would slip through my fingertips. Luckily, the forecast shows at least one more week of summer heat, so there’s still hope to get a few more things checked off my summer bucket list! It’s actually supposed to be in the mid 80s when fall officially arrives later this week.

Some of the ideas on my fall bucket list are rather unconventional, but then again, that’s me in a nutshell, so I like to think it works! Others are “typical” of fall, but things I want to do nevertheless.

Eat apple cider donuts – Priorities, right? One of my favorite things to do when I lived back in Kansas City was to spend an afternoon at the Louisburg Cider Mill. They make melt-in-your-mouth apple cider donuts and serve them up warm by the bagful! I’m looking to get my hands on something similar up here in Chicago. If you know of anywhere, let me know! Otherwise, a trip to one of my favorite little donut shops for the flavor of the season just might have to do the trick.

Hike at Starved Rock State Park – The photos I’ve seen from the waterfalls within the park look incredible. I want to spend a Saturday or Sunday and make the drive (or ride, since I don’t have a car #minordetails) to escape the city, take in the fall foliage, and breathe in the fresh air!

Take a cocktail making class – I kinda, sorta feel like I’m cheating by adding this to the list as I’m heading to a class with Cointreau and The Everygirl tonight! Originally, I wanted to take a cooking class and then I got to thinking, I don’t really eat a lot of things and I’m pretty sure they don’t have classes on how to make grilled cheese sandwiches. Plus, I’ve already mastered that along with the PB&J. 🙃

Start the 52 Lists Project – I mentioned this journal a few weeks back, but what I didn’t realize is that it’s broken up into four sections by season! I decided to wait to start it until I could start with the section highlighting fall.

Take an outdoor trapeze class – I went out for a run on Sunday afternoon and stumbled upon a trapeze class set up close to Belmont Harbor (I think it might be this one? I need to do some investigating while I’m out next!) and decided it would be the perfect thing to do with a group of girlfriends. Not going to lie though, the adrenaline junkie living deep inside of me is dying to go skydiving again, too!

See a live concert – I’ve been crossing my fingers The Knocks would be scheduled to play in Chicago ever since I was introduced to their music at the beginning of the year. I’m currently trying to pin down their tour dates for the coming months!

Run in a Turkey Trot – My tentative plan is to spend Thanksgiving here in Chicago with my good friend Sarah, her soon-to-be husband, and his family. I’m hoping this is the year I push through the carb coma and get out for a race of some sort!

Try a new bar to watch college football or basketball (or tailgate for an Iowa football game and pretend to be a Hawkeye with my friend Sarah for the day) – I spent a good amount of time at Lottie’s and Kincade’s last year for KU basketball games and it was always so much fun being around other Kansas fans!

Spend a long weekend in Kansas City – Saving the best for last here! I am SO excited to make a trip home to meet my best friend Whitney’s baby and celebrate our birthdays together since she wasn’t able to make it up over the summer. We’ve so aptly named the weekend #boozebirthdaysbabies.

And there you have it. I’ve got plenty to keep me busy and hopefully you found some inspiration to put together a fall bucket list of your own! If you’re still looking for ideas, check out my winter, spring, and summer lists!

What’s on your fall bucket list?
