A Few Things for Friday

TGIF, friends! It feels as though I blinked and somehow ended up here. Another whirlwind week, for sure. How was yours?

I spent my days logging a few runs along the lakefront (something I intended to do this spring, but you know, life happened), did some organizing in my new place, and attempted to get caught up on work!

As for the weekend, I’m looking forward to Barry’s Bootcamp tonight and yoga in the morning and then I’m heading to Shedd Blu tomorrow night thanks to Kit! I’ve followed the event from afar for a few years and I couldn’t be more excited to get dressed up for a night out. How perfect is this blue lace dress?

I didn’t do a whole lot of reading this week, which explains my lack of links, but here are a few things that have been happening/on my radar – enjoy!

Song of the week: Tinashe – Flame (Steve James Remix). Turn it up and listen as you read. 😃

My face has been in full on freak out mode since May and I’m determined to get to the bottom of what’s causing it rather than treating it with whatever cream or pill the dermatologist would likely give me. I suspect the underlying issue is inflammation caused by something I’m eating or drinking and as a result, I’m on day five of no dairy, gluten, added sugar, alcohol (I do plan to have some red wine tonight), or espresso (one of the only new things I’ve introduced to my diet over the past few months…crossing my fingers it’s the culprit because I’d gladly give it up for good). I don’t know if it’s the placebo effect, but I think something is working.

A few summers ago, I woke up with an almond allergy out of the blue. One day I could eat them and the next, I couldn’t. I got tested and it’s been pretty easy to avoid them ever since! Mandy has me tempted to try Pinnertest to see about intolerances. Do you have any food allergies or intolerances? I’d love to hear about your experiences! I’ve been researching like crazy every spare minute I get.

On the topic of skin, Kiehl’s is hosting an event next Thursday and you’re invited! Details are above. My girlfriend Erin is coming up from Kansas City on Wednesday night for Lollapalooza and we’re planning to make this our second stop of the day (the first being Flywheel) before heading to the concerts that afternoon! For those of you not heading to the festival, it would also make a nice little lunch break getaway.

Kiehl’s also passed along a few of their best-selling products to me and I’m excited to add their creamy avocado eye treatment and their midnight recovery concentrate (which smells heavenly, by the way) to my routine to see how I like them!

Switching gears here, my number one priority when it comes to blogging is, and will always be, this blog. I know Instagram has been a pain point for so many lately. At the end of the day, it’s just Instagram. This post on Blogging for Keeps was such a refreshing read!

I shared a round-up of mix and match neutrals earlier this week (including a few pieces I picked up from J. Crew) and naturally, they’re now offering 25% off and free shipping! (Just use code FRIDAY when you check out! And side note: I chatted with customer service and they were so kind to give me a price adjustment on my order so if you ever find yourself in the same boat, you know what to do. 👏🏼)

In case you missed it, I also shared my 1 year in Chicago post – one of my most-read posts ever!

Wherever the weekend takes  you, I hope it’s great! I’ll be sharing in real-time over on Instagram (and Insta stories) and Twitter. See you back here next week, friends!

I just loved reading this roundup. I am still going through some of the links and I can’t wait to read the growing Instagram post. And I definitely have to check out Kiehls. Great post.
