Wednesday Musings

How is it already Wednesday?! I’m not sure about you, but the week is flying by over here! There are not enough hours in the day, or maybe there aren’t enough hours of daylight? This whole getting dark at 4pm thing has me longing for my bed by 8 and isn’t doing much for my (typically) productive evenings. Over the knee boots and skirtIn the thick of gift guides and sales galore, I figured we could all use a little break to chat and catch up!

CONFLICTED: A certain four letter word (hint: snow) popped up in the weekend forecast and I’m not sure if I’m excited (because what are the holidays without fluffy white flakes covering the ground?) or mildly terrified of the frigid weather it will bring. It was 60 degrees here in Chicago yesterday which made running errands around the city so much more bearable than, say, running them in 20 degree temps. I’m not ready for my hermit-like ways to come out, and I’m not sure my wardrobe is ready to tough it out!

ON MY NIGHTSTAND: My mom gave me her copy of Furiously Happy when I was back home and I can’t wait to start it tonight. Not only is it a New York Times best seller, but it comes highly recommended by my Grandma and I take her book recommendations very, very seriously! I just remembered that I never reported back on Truly, Madly, GuiltyHonestly, it was a pretty big letdown after reading Moriarty’s other books, but I pushed myself to read to the end in hopes that she would surprise me. I should have known after my Grandma returned it after just a few chapters.

SHOP SMALL/LOCAL: I was recently introduced to Alice & Wonder, a local Chicago shop, and everything is so perfectly curated! How festive is this “I slay” doormat? And these cocktail glasses – so cute!

SWEAT IT OUT: I set a goal to make working out a priority everyday until we leave again for the Christmas holiday (which will be Dec. 21st, if you want to keep me accountable/join me). I’ve been pretty good about making it to 4 classes at Studio Three a week, but I really want to push myself so I can move into the New Year strong. And let’s be honest, I don’t want there to be any guilt when I overindulge, either. 😉 I’m going to do daily check-ins over on Snapchat if you want to keep tabs on me or join in yourself! You can find me under ‘jessicazimlich.’

LOOK ALIKE: I picked up this scarf (seen here) from ASOS a few years ago and it’s easily one of the most complimented pieces in my closet. Seriously, two people stopped me on the street the week before last to ask where I got it (never mind the fact that I had paired it with my workout wear #fashionista). I had to tell them it was long gone, but I found one super similar and blanket scarf as I was perusing their site last week and couldn’t wait to share it with you guys! Also, the irony that I referenced the cold in Chicago and now live here is not lost on me.

SANTAAAAA: This ginormous throw. It’s a pretty penny, but I can’t get over how cozy it looks. I also can’t get over the fact that some of our blankets are from college. I’d say we’re beyond due for a refresh.

I hope you have a great Wednesday, guys! I’m off to a workout this morning and then I’m hunkering down behind the computer screen at a coffee shop.

Same! I think I need to make a point to stop there each time we leave my mom’s house 🙂 It’s a shame we’ve ever just driven right on by.

  4. Love the photo Jess! It reminds me so much of where I grew up, even though it’s on the other side of the world haha. Great boots too! x

Aw, I love that it reminded you of that! It’s funny to think that two countries can be so similar in landscape, even though they’re so insanely far away from each other 🙂
