Weekending (and a trip to Vegas!)

Hi friends! How was your weekend and while I’m at it, your Monday?
3 arts cafeTwo of my girlfriends came up from Kansas City for a visit and we had the best time! Pete and I have been so lucky to have so many visitors since we made the move up here.

On Friday afternoon, Whitney and I popped into 3 Arts Club Cafe (inside Restoration Hardware) for a little “ladies who lunch” outing. I questioned whether or not the food would be good or if people just went for the ambiance, but I was pleasantly surprised. The truffle grilled cheese and (warm) salted chocolate chip cookies were well worth the wait! If you can make it there during the week I imagine there would be less of a line as they don’t take reservations and it’s a hot spot to be – especially on the weekend. But even then, grabbing a drink and perusing the pristine set ups on the various floors while you wait is great in its own right!chicago's gold coastThe rest of the weekend was spent roaming the city, eating, drinking and just enjoying each others company. Whitney headed home on Sunday morning, but Erin and I decided to make a long weekend out of it – fully equipped with a late night chat that lasted until the wee hours of the morning yesterday. Girl time is good for the soul.

Backtracking a little bit, Pete turned 30 (!!) last Thursday and we’re heading to Vegas bright and early tomorrow morning to meet up with friends and celebrate accordingly! Our friend Cam celebrated his birthday last week and Whit is joining the 30 club toward the end of the month, so a trip was a no-brainer. It’s been several years since we visited and generally speaking, we like to steer clear of the club scene (I’m more of a $5 blackjack kind of girl) and I imagine we will be spending a hefty amount of our time soaking up the sun poolside!

Be sure to follow along over on Instagram and Snapchat (I’m jessicazimlich over there) this week/end and if you have any Vegas recs send them my way!

Have a great week, everyone!

I’d love to see a recap on your favorite places, restaurants, & things to do in Vegas! I’m going there in June for the first time! Not ashamed to admit that I got tickets to see the Backstreet Boys play at Planet Hollywood 😁 Have a great time!

Hi Lauren! No shame there…that sounds like a blast 🙂 This is embarrassing to admit, but I don’t have much to share. Admittedly, we rotated between the pool (we stayed at Treasure Island and have no complaints!), random pizza places/Chipotle (shhh)/CVS for fruit and cereal, and our favorite hole in the wall casino – Casino Royale. I love their $5 blackjack tables and they do the “free bet” which makes things more exciting! We did venture down to Planet Hollywood to gamble and had a lot of fun there as well. One thing I’d like to do in the future is visit the neon sign museum – it looks so cool! (you can find out more about it here: http://www.neonmuseum.org/) I will say though, I’m a firm believer that no matter where you’re at or what you’re doing, it’s all about who you’re with that typically makes it so great. I hope you have a great time!
