Checking In

Hi guys, I’m alive! Just popping in to give you a quick update on what I’ve been up to for the past few weeks. You know, since over half of September has come and gone (the passing of time will forever boggle my mind).cuyana-the-everygirlAt the beginning of the month, I gave myself a bit of a to-do list of sorts and I’m happy to report I haven’t been doing half bad. Not to mention I’ve been tackling an even bigger task…a major closet clean out. I realize I should have done this before we moved, so as not to move pieces I didn’t plan to keep, but this way has given me the time I need to resell some items that were only gently used or better yet, never used at all!

Meet three people I’m “friends” with on social media, but haven’t actually met in real life. I had the opportunity to attend a dinner at Nellcôte hosted by The Everygirl and Cuyana last Wednesday and I still can’t get over how welcoming everyone was! I met several gals for the first time and caught up with Lauren before we made our way to opposite ends of the table. We were each gifted this leather iPad case (turned clutch) and I realized it’s the first piece I’ve had monogrammed (at least, in my adult life. Mom, maybe you can confirm?), which makes it pretty special.  the-everygirlSchedule time with a photographer to shoot outfit photos. I’m meeting with Melissa on Thursday morning and can’t wait to shoot a few new looks for the blog! We rescheduled our original meet up due to rain, which seems to happen at random here. I thought the weather in Kansas City was temperamental, but I’m pretty sure Chicago takes the cake! cuyana-leather-clutchRead two new books. finally finished Truly, Madly, Guilty and much like the reviews I’ve read, it was rather disappointing. I waited and waited (and then waited some more) to find out what happened at that damn barbecue and to be frank, it just wasn’t that exciting. I’m trying to get my hands on a library card here in Chicago so I can get started on the rest of the titles on my must read list.

Add a 4 mile run to my weekly workout routine. Well, I ran two miles on the treadmill and nearly keeled over. However, I took my first TORCH class at Studio Three, which is a mix of treadmill intervals, weightlifting and sprints on the rower. The intervals were the hardest I’ve ever pushed myself when it comes to running, ever, and I think it’s what I need to get back into a good groove. I’m taking the same class again tomorrow!

I hope you all had a great weekend! Here’s to a fresh start and a new week. 🙂

I’ll be sharing a splurge/save post highlighting some of my fall favorites on Wednesday, so be sure to check back then!

Good luck with that closet clean-out! I’m in the middle of doing one right now, too and it is not fun at all! Alsoooo, did I mention I’ll be in Chicago this weekend? We should totally meet up/tackle that meet social media friends in real life thing!

It’s actually sort of fun selling old stuff because I feel like I have some sort of justification for buying a few new pieces…that’s how it works, right? 😉 Ah, yes! I remember you saying that a while back. It’s not confirmed yet, but I think Pete’s mom is going to be in town for a last minute trip and another gal I used to work with will be in the city on Saturday afternoon. Shoot me an email and maybe we can coordinate something in between all of that!

Same here! I think that’s why I’ve always steered cleared of monograms (because they can be so in your face), but this one is perfect 🙂

Nope, I believe you are correct…though as a child you did have your monogram on a Christmas ornament a time or two, but I don’t think that counts in this case. 😉 Love you! Mom
