Fall Wardrobe Staples

Happy Tuesday, everyone! There was an undeniable crisp in the air when I left for my morning workout class yesterday, which was equal parts exciting and terrifying. I’ve been told the fall season is short and sweet here in Chicago, but I can’t help but try and stay optimistic. It felt so good!fall wardrobe staples at every priceI decided to compile a round up of items at varying price points that I’ve added (or hope to add) to my wardrobe for the cooler months ahead.

I am learning – albeit the hard way – that quality over quantity almost always wins (save for those trendier pieces that you may or may not wear for more than one season) when it comes to wardrobe staples. But I’m also a realist in the sense that budgets are very much a real thing around here. It’s all about picking and choosing where to invest to create a closet full of items you truly love (which will end up driving the cost-per-wear down, subsequently curbing any guilt you might have from finally splurging on that chic leather jacket you’ll wear season after season).

The fall trend gods have spoken and while I usually stick to my tried-and-true, I’ve been branching out by adding suede and pops of lace. I’m still on the hunt for the perfect a-line (preferably button-front) skirt! I’ve been debating this one – only $20!

Black skinny jeans are in constant rotation for me every fall/winter, but I opted for a distressed pair this season and love the extra element they bring to an outfit. I also couldn’t believe the fabric on this plaid top. It’s truly the softest thing I own. I’m also a big proponent of having a go-to dress on hand that makes you feel like a million bucks when you slip it on and for me, this lace, collared number is it!

Madewell Leather Jacket // Topshop Faux Leather Jacket (more sizes here)

rag & bone Skinny Jeans // Dark Wash Skinny Jeans (also love the color of this pair)

AG Distressed Jeans // Old Navy Distressed Jeans

Rails Plaid Top // Madewell Plaid Top

Vince Boots // Sam Edelman Boots

Stuart Weitzman Over the Knee Boots // Black Over the Knee Boots

Chloé Leather Shoulder Bag // BR Suede Bag

Rebecca Minkoff Satchel (more colors here) // Sole Society Tote

J. Crew Silk Top // Express Sheer Top

Saint James Striped Shirt // J. Crew Factory Striped Shirt

Burberry Trench Coat (in my dreams) // J. Crew Trench Coat

Ted Baker Lace Dress (also here) // Collared Dress

I need a trench coat – it’s the one thing missing in my fall wardrobe. So hard to find an affordable one, though!
