Blush and Blue

Hi guys! How’s it going? Last week was crazy with a 3-day work conference (which translated to late nights and early mornings) and as much as it pained me, I let the blog assume the position on the back burner until my schedule calmed down a bit.

As you could guess, my weekend was spent playing the ultimate game of catch up. Seven loads of laundry, countless emails (and a tackled file box), a trip to the grocery store and one ass kicking at Mojo Cycling later, I’m feeling good about the start of a new week!how to wear rose quartz and serenity - the pantone color of the year for 2016Now I know what you’re thinking, “A swimsuit and a pom pom beanie? Jess, I’m not following.” I’ve reached that weird in between part of the season where I have zero interest in adding to my winter wardrobe (even though the wind chill is sitting at -9 and we have a long way to go) and thanks to a handful of retailers I frequent often, I’ve set my sights warmer, brighter days ahead (I’m looking at you, Target swimsuit section). You, too? Okay, glad we’re on the same page.

I’m not usually one to follow trends super closely, I simply wear pieces I feel comfortable in (which come in all different shapes, sizes, silhouettes and colors), but I couldn’t help to notice this round-up took a note from the 2016 Pantone color of the year, rose quartz and serenity, so I went with it and played off of my love of neutrals in general!

A look you can wear right now: A pom pom beanie, pink sweater, white jeansnude flats and a chic crossbody. And don’t forget your coat!

A look for later: A white pleated dress, and blue suede heels – less is more when the temps warm up!

A look for the summer: Nothing but a swimsuit, please! I bought my first Marysia suit (last seen here) over the summer and it’s by far favorite. I love the color of this one and while the halter style is something I don’t typically go for, I know it would be super flattering!

Where do you live? Somewhere warm(er) than the heart of the midwest, I hope! If not, do you have any plans to travel in the next few months?

I can’t even remember what the color of the year was last year. The moment I started seeing some rose gold quartz and blush I was dying to see if it was going to be the color of the year! Great picks Jess!

What color? 😉 Blush has always been a favorite of mine, but the serenity and lighter blues are growing on me.

We could be swimsuit twins and then wear them together this summer when we see each other (because we’ve gotta make that happen again). I need it, too! Stay warm up there 🙂

Isn’t this weather absolutely horrible?! I’m in northern Wisconsin, so I’m sure it’s just as bad in Chicago as it is here. This inspiration board, on the other hand, has me dreaming of warmer days ahead! We are headed to Florida at the end of next month (Disney World!), so I’m trying to keep that in the back of my mind as I cringe every time I walk outside.

I actually live in Kansas City, but it’s been just as bad here as it has been in Chicago 😉 Ooo, you have the perfect excuse to pick up pieces like these…I on the other hand, do not. I hope you have a great trip!

  14. Love this round-up! I was so excited when the colors of the year were announced and they’re spot on. I also have a feeling we’re going to see a lot of yellow pop up in places so start to bookmark products in that hue too!
