Weekly Rounds Vol. 18

I’ve got 99 problems and 97 stem from our car and the other few have to do with the dreaded Facebook algorithm that seems to have caused me more grief than usual this week. But it’s Friday!

Rachel Wilkerson, Buzzfeed Editor Interview

How you doin’? (said in my Joey from FRIENDS voice). Below are a few links I’ve rounded up to get you through the weekend!

  • You know when you hear a song and it suddenly transports you back to a place in time? I have a feeling this song by Ryn Weaver will be my summer 2015 anthem (it may or may not have something to do with the fact that I’ve listened to it 77 times since last week)
  • My mom whipped up a modified version of these Salted Caramel and Dark Chocolate Blondies last Sunday and needless to say, I overindulged and then some. She went the vegan route using vegan butter and almond whipping cream and opted to add the caramel to the chocolate to make the sauce on top instead of creating two separate toppings. Throw in a dash of sea salt and it was love at first bite. She sent me home with leftovers and they ended up being twice as good then next day (refrigerating them was a game changer!)
  • After our mastermind call this week, Lindsay suggested I check out this article on creating a creative mission statement and although the questions are straightforward and simple, the answers are revealing
  • Kristin, from Not Intent On Arriving, featured me on her Writer Wednesday Column and I dished on my favorite place on earth and where I’d like to travel next!
  • Victoria shared her thoughts on the future of blogging – what do you think of her predictions?
  • Notice a familiar face at the new Pilates studio in town?
  • Cassandra is such a talented photographer and her recent shoot with Rachel Miller, an Editor at Buzzfeed, was perfection
  • Perfect your elevator pitch by adding one key ingredient: confidence
  • A millenial’s version of “The American Dream”
  • 12 items to shop this weekend, including three pieces I picked up for $50 total and those sandals I finally pulled the trigger on!

We’re headed back to Topeka (in a rental) this weekend to celebrate Pete’s cousin who is graduating and I’m really looking forward to catching up with everyone! Enjoy the weekend ahead and I’ll see you back here bright and early Monday morning!

    • Such a small world! Sort of, I lived there between 8th grade and college graduation, so it’s easiest to tell people that I am 🙂 Have a great weekend!

  7. Girl!! Thanks SOO much for the mention! I really appreciate it. Also, Victoria’s article was seriously on point and a lot of points she brought up I’ve really been thinking about lately as I begin my rebrand/business.

    • Thank you, same to you! If you have a Facebook page, the short of it is the posts you put up are only shown to a certain number of people who have “liked” your page. I believe more likes/comments/shares allow more people to see the post. But basically it’s Facebook’s way of making brands and businesses pay for advertising to get their posts seen. Bummer for small businesses and bloggers who don’t have the money for that sort of thing!
