Crunch Time // 27 before 27

If you’re new around here, welcome! I’ve got less than two months until my 27th birthday and it’s crunch time. You’re probably thinking, why is she telling me this? I started 26 and Not Counting with a list of 27 things I hope to accomplish before my 27th birthday and I’m so close to finishing!

1. Start a blog. I’ve been pouring my heart and soul into my little piece of the internet for almost a year now. A WHOLE ENTIRE YEAR.

2. Run a 10k and three 5ks. I ran my first half marathon and then my second half marathon and I squeezed in a 5k. I had no intention of running a half marathon, let alone two, so I’m calling this one a win!
3. Learn how to braid my hair.
4. Make a point to keep in touch with my family out of state more often (call, text, Facebook, send letters, anything really…). One of my favorite things to do is text my Nana.
5. Complete a photo-a-day challenge (in it’s entirety).  Peep my Instagram for proof.
6. Go skiing at Snow Creek in Weston, MO.  It’s supposed to hit 94 here this week. Needless to say, it ain’t gonna happen.
7. Start using reusable grocery bags. I’ve been using the bag I got at the Kansas City Blogger Brunch on Sundays when I need to pick up a few quick things. Baby steps.
8. Volunteer my time. The group for the Ronald McDonald house filled up so fast and I didn’t get to participate. Now taking suggestions on where else I can donate my time in the Kansas City area.
9. Earn a raise (mama needs some new shoes!).
11. Grow a plant.  My DIY terrarium is flourishing!
12. Go on a mini vacation/weekend trip. Went through the big D and I do mean Dallas.
13. Lose the last 10lbs my body is holding onto because I can’t stop eating cheese and bread. CHECK! If you’re interested in reading my full weight loss story I suggest doing so after this post, it’s rather lengthy. Stay tuned for more on the fitness front in the coming weeks!

14. Have a movie marathon with my Dad, with classics like The Breakfast Club
15. Start meditating once a week, even if it’s for 15 minutes (hummmmm).
16. Go to the drive-in movie.
17. Save more money.
18. Go to a concert at Grinders.
19. Run/walk/jog/elliptical my way through 1,000 miles. 728 miles down. 272 to go! Let’s be real, I’m probably not going to break 1,000 miles before my birthday, but I’ll keep tacking on a few here and there to see how far I can get.
20. Attend a trampoline class at Sky Zone in Kansas City and drag all of my friends along. My body hurt, but it was all in the name of my precious little brother’s birthday.
21. Try a yoga class.
22. Become CPR certified.
23. Update the pictures in frames around my apartment.
24. Get a skin cancer screening at the dermatologist. There is no excuse as to why I haven’t done this yet. I’ve put my skin through the ringer and I need to do this for my health.
25. Attend a First Fridays in downtown KC.  I made it to an event in May and I’m super excited about the 8183 pop-up at First Fridays in Kansas City this coming weekend!
26. Make at least three of the many, many projects I’ve pinned on Pinterest. I’m a proud plant mom to two terrariums. As for the other projects? Well……
27.Write a letter to myself to read next year at this time.

Next time you see this list will be the last! I’m already working on my 28 before 28 list (think bigger and better).

What are some of your long term and short term goals at the moment? I would love to hear down in the comments or you can always tweet me @26NotCounting. Happy Monday!

Dang girl, you have crossed so much off your list! GOOD FOR YOU! 🙂 Also, I need to get back to volunteering. I absolutely loved it when I did it, but it wasn’t at a place that was long-term for me. Also, I also need to go to a dermatologist to get my skin checked out!

    Hi Jess,
Thanks for popping in yesterday! I hope you enjoyed my blog! Yes. The virtual picnic was awesome! Love your blog, especially this post! Wow! Impressive list! It looks like we have a lot in common. It’s too bad you don’t live closer, we could go and NOT get a Starbucks together Lol! Thank you for your sweet comment. Have a great week!

YES. Thank you for also not being able to braid – I feel like I am the only one in the world who can’t. Let me know if you learn any tricks while you’re working on accomplishing that goal.

Girl…I’m so glad I’m not the ONLY one! I’m probably the least coordinated person I know and I’m certain that has something to do with it. I’ll definitely let you know what I come up with!
