If you’re new around here, welcome! I’ve got less than two months until my 27th birthday and it’s crunch time. You’re probably thinking, why is she telling me this? I started 26 and Not Counting with a list of 27 things I hope to accomplish before my 27th birthday and I’m so close to finishing!1. Start a blog. I’ve been pouring my heart and soul into my little piece of the internet for almost a year now. A WHOLE ENTIRE YEAR.
3. Learn how to braid my hair.
4. Make a point to keep in touch with my family out of state more often (call, text, Facebook, send letters, anything really…). One of my favorite things to do is text my Nana.
6. Go skiing at Snow Creek in Weston, MO. It’s supposed to hit 94 here this week. Needless to say, it ain’t gonna happen.
8. Volunteer my time. The group for the Ronald McDonald house filled up so fast and I didn’t get to participate. Now taking suggestions on where else I can donate my time in the Kansas City area.
10. Read more. So far I’ve read: Revenge Wears Prada, The Husband’s Secret, Banished: Surviving My Years in the Westboro Baptist Church, Divergent, Insurgent, Allegiant, Gone Girl and The Fault In Our Stars. Up next: Blog, Inc. and #GIRLBOSS
Shop the look: Top | Pants (on sale!) | Shoes (on super sale!) | Bottle | Yoga Mat (similar) |
14. Have a movie marathon with my Dad, with classics like The Breakfast Club.
16. Go to the drive-in movie.
18. Go to a concert at Grinders.
21. Try a yoga class.
22. Become CPR certified.
23. Update the pictures in frames around my apartment.
24. Get a skin cancer screening at the dermatologist. There is no excuse as to why I haven’t done this yet. I’ve put my skin through the ringer and I need to do this for my health.
Next time you see this list will be the last! I’m already working on my 28 before 28 list (think bigger and better).
What are some of your long term and short term goals at the moment? I would love to hear down in the comments or you can always tweet me @26NotCounting. Happy Monday!
It’s supposed to be nearly 94??? THE FRICK? NO! Sorry, just had to get that out there. Way to bring me up on a Monday morning Jess. Just kidding, love you!

Dang girl, you have crossed so much off your list! GOOD FOR YOU! 🙂 Also, I need to get back to volunteering. I absolutely loved it when I did it, but it wasn’t at a place that was long-term for me. Also, I also need to go to a dermatologist to get my skin checked out!
This list is amazing, I really think setting goals really makes each year of life more fulfilling!
Eleventh & Sixteenth
Now I know we’re almost birthday twinzies, I have to step up my game. You’re an everyday inspiration, keep on crossing things off!
I love this list. You’re doing a great job, friend! Proud of you! 🙂
What a great list. I need to rework mine.
Oh hey there, you’re totally kickin’ my ass on this whole getting shit done list! I’m so impressed that you’ve already basically surpassed most of your goals! Keep on keepin’ on! xx
Congrats on 2 half marathons! That’s amazing. Love that you are setting and achieving goals. Thanks for sharing! Xo, M&K at brewedtogether.com
Thank you so much! It feels so good once you accomplish something 🙂 Have a great weekend!
I love this! I’m so inspired to do something like this once I turn 24 in October, so I can count down to 25. Thanks so much for the inspiration!

Hi Jess,
Thanks for popping in yesterday! I hope you enjoyed my blog! Yes. The virtual picnic was awesome! Love your blog, especially this post! Wow! Impressive list! It looks like we have a lot in common. It’s too bad you don’t live closer, we could go and NOT get a Starbucks together Lol! Thank you for your sweet comment. Have a great week!
YES. Thank you for also not being able to braid – I feel like I am the only one in the world who can’t. Let me know if you learn any tricks while you’re working on accomplishing that goal.
Thank you, Karlyn! You definitely should! It’s such a great way to motivate yourself and putting it out there on your blog helps to keep you accountable. Let me know if you decide to do this so I can see your list 🙂
Jeannine, thank you so much! I always find myself “meeting” people online thinking I wish we lived closer, we would hit it off! Hope you’re having a great week as well 🙂
Girl…I’m so glad I’m not the ONLY one! I’m probably the least coordinated person I know and I’m certain that has something to do with it. I’ll definitely let you know what I come up with!
Ok! Thanks Jessica!
