Real Blogger Beauty

The long weekend couldn’t have come at a better time. I literally got nothing accomplished, and you know what? I’m perfectly okay with that. Pete and I decided to ditch our weekend to-do list Saturday morning and head to a friends cabin at the lake instead. I think we can all agree that sounds a helluva lot better than laundry and deep cleaning, right? Not to mention that being on the water is just good for the soul. I’m truly thankful for the men and women who supported and served our country, and their remembrance that takes place each Memorial Day.
You’re probably wondering what the deal is with this Real Blogger Beauty talk and I’m so excited to share it with you all!
Because the secret to success is support

When Maya from Charmingly Styled reached out to see if I was interested in participating in the Real Blogger Beauty Campaign I knew from the get-go my answer would be yes. Maya said it best, “In reality, there’s an incredible beauty in our imperfections, insecurities, and the real people we are when we’re not in “blogger” mode – and I think it’s something we all should celebrate!” I agree wholeheartedly. There is a huge pressure when it comes to blogging and using social media in general to create this picture perfect life. What’s important to remember is that nobody is perfect, no matter how pretty their Instagram feed is.

Over the weekend I really tried to think about what I wanted to share with you all and to be honest, I’m still not quite there yet. There are parts of my life that aren’t picture perfect, but they all shape who I am as a human being. I would be lying if I said that showing the bits and pieces that highlight the true struggles I’ve been through (and am going through right now) isn’t downright terrifying. Luckily, there are still a few weeks for me to sort through my thoughts and really hone in on what it is I want to say. My only goal is that whatever I share will resonate with someone and make them feel like they aren’t alone.

I would love it if you joined us on June 16th by posting your story. Whether you want to talk about insecurities you’ve struggled with, a cause that is near and dear to your heart or a social issue that you want to raise awareness about – this is the time to make your story heard. A link-up will be posted over on Charmingly Styled so that we can swap stories, “meet” and support each other on the 16th, I do hope you will join!
If you aren’t blogging, that’s okay. You can follow along on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook using #RealBloggerBeauty. I’m really looking forward to the inspiration, love and support that is sure to follow the campaign!

Will you be participating in some way? Let me know down in the comments!

  3. This is such a great idea! You’re so right that the pictures we post and the stories we tell are just a snippet of our true selves and what’s going on in our lives. I like focusing on the positive on my blog, but I also think this is awesome to share the not so great stuff that is going on, too, because it really shows that we’re not alone. I’m excited to get to know everyone better:) Glad you had a nice and relaxing weekend! Going to the lake sounds way better than cleaning:)
