Sugar Detox.

After a weekend filled with decadent desserts and donuts I decided I need a sugar detox. Allow me to briefly recap what was consumed: donuts (twice), two slices of chocolate mousse cake from two different restaurants and then there were the Reese’s Peanut Butter cups I finished off on Sunday night so that I wouldn’t be tempted to eat them this week. Probably not the route I should have gone, but it happened. Yesterday I made a pact with myself that I won’t eat any sweets for the entire week (Monday-Friday). You’re probably thinking, five days? Come on, Jess. Go easy on me. After that I’ll reevaluate my mental state to see if I can stretch it out a little longer.

Sprinkled Donuts
My Instagram is a testament to my love for donuts.

I used to think of myself as a gal who craves salty, fried and cheesy. Don’t get me wrong, I still eat plenty of that stuff, but one look at myfitnesspal log and it’s apparent the real issue is any food item that lists sugar as the first ingredient. I’ve even got a stash of candy at work. Who am I?! I’d like to get back to a place where sweets are a special treat. Not an every single day, sometimes even twice sorta thing.

Now that my sweet tooth is aching like crazy, I’m telling you all this to keep myself accountable. I’ll be sure to follow up and make you aware of any withdrawal symptoms I experience 🙂 What’s your kryptonite?

Good Luck! 🙂 My sweet tooth is crazy too!! I can easily pass on salty indulgences like chips or fries, but when it comes to cookies and donuts its a whole different story!

  2. Oh man…good luck! I have a terrible sweet tooth…TERRIBLE! I have a weakness for sour/gummy candy, so I gave that up for lent. It hasn’t even been a week and I’m dying. I can’t wait to see how this goes for you. Maybe you’ll inspire me to try it too! Good luck! <3

  4. Okay, I’m really glad to hear that I’m not the only one who will eat something just to get it out of the house/to keep me from eating it later in the week.

Alissa from The Adored Life mentioned you were going to do dinner with us on Saturday post-KCFW! Excited to meet you! 🙂
