New year.

The year is coming to a close and before we know it we will all be struggling to remember that we can no longer write 2013 on everything. I haven’t given you an update on my list of 27 things since the beginning of November {read here} and it’s high time I get a little more serious about the goals I set for myself. Not much has changed, but a new year brings an opportunity to regroup and start fresh and that’s just what I plan to do.
hello, 2014

1. Start a blog. It’s weird to say, but starting this blog has taught me so much about myself. I’m excited to see what 2014 brings for me and my minuscule corner of the Internet. This post is chock full of ways to grow and improve this coming year. One of my new goals is to get some professional pictures taken for the blog.

2. Run a 10k and three 5ks. I’m hoping to find a few fun 5ks to run before the Rock the Parkway Half Marathon in April.
3. Learn how to braid my hair. I will have to enlist the help of my amazing sister who works at Skyline. Jorrrrdannnnn!
4. Make a point to keep in touch with my family out of state more often (call, text, Facebook, send letters, anything really…).
5. Complete a photo-a-day challenge (in it’s entirety). Check out my Instagram for all the pics.
6. Go skiing at Snow Creek in Weston, MO.
7. Start using reusable grocery bags.
8. Volunteer my time.
9. Earn a raise (mama needs some new shoes!).
10. Read more.icon So far I’ve read: Revenge Wears PradaThe Husband’s Secret and Banished: Surviving My Years in the Westboro Baptist ChurchiconI reserved Divergent  at the library and it just came in. If you need me tonight, I’ll be cuddled up on the couch hanging on it’s every word.
11. Grow a plant. My sister got me another awesome terrarium container for Christmas, now I just need to get my hands on the rest of the materials I need and start planting.
12. Go on a mini vacation/weekend trip. I traveled to Dallas and it only took 15 hours to get back to Missouri. It was fun, I promise. Read all about my adventures here
13. Lose the last 10lbs my body is holding onto because I can’t stop eating cheese and bread. I bared it all and told you about my weight loss here. I’ve been “just getting by” for awhile now, but I’m ready to push my body a little harder going into 2014.
14. Have a movie marathon with my Dad, with classics like The Breakfast Club.
15. Start meditating once a week, even if it’s for 15 minutes (hummmmm). I’m working on this. I just need to be more consistent.
16. Go to the drive-in movie. Summer, where are you?!
17. Save more money.
18. Go to a concert at Grinders. Outdoor concerts and 12 degree temps don’t mix.
19. Run/walk/jog/elliptical my way through 1,000 miles. I’m at 364 miles, but I’ve started to get serious about training for the half marathon, even though the thought of running on a treadmill makes me want to poke my eyes out. This schedule should help me to get some more miles up on the board.
20. Attend a trampoline class at Sky Zone in Kansas City and drag all of my friends along.
21. Try a yoga class.  Kansas City Bikram Yoga, I’ll be paying you a visit soon.
22. Become CPR certified.
23. Update the pictures in frames around my apartment.
24. Get a skin cancer screening at the dermatologist.
25. Attend a First Fridays in downtown KC. Again, Spring…Summer…If you show up early, I’m fairly certain no one will be upset.
26. Make at least three of the many, many projects I’ve pinned on Pinterest
27.Write a letter to myself to read next year at this time.
What are some of your goals moving into the new year?

Enjoy the last Monday of 2013 and I’ll see you back here next year!

Like I said, I know it won’t be pretty! I’m sure once we do it we will think, “why did we wait so long?!”
