Woes of the World Wide Web.

I’m fairly new to blogging, but in the few months since I started putting my two cents into this endless sea we call the Internet, I’ve noticed a few things.

Let me start by saying that I don’t think LinkedIn is the right platform to be selling your Tastefully Simple products to people you don’t know. I won’t name any names, but after the sixth or seventh personal inbox message I decided it was time to sever that “relationship.” How did we ever get linked up in the first place?! The harassment continued when I logged into Facebook where I was bombarded with updates about It Works! products. Last time I checked, wrapping your body in saran wrap and doing a little jig won’t make you skinny! There’s no shortcut, believe me.

I’m picky about what I post on Pinterest. I’ve had an account for I don’t know how long and I’ve racked up a meager 131 pins. Nothing frustrates me more than when I find something I love, click the picture and then….NOTHING. It wasn’t linked properly and there is no way in hell I’m ever going to find that amazing little black dress or the instructions on how to build that awesome DIY coffee table. I found a really great source about permalinks over at The Well. It gives some insight on why that happens and how to prevent it, you can read about it here. Practice safe pinning!

I have yet to meet an Instagram account that I don’t like. Probably because I love pictures. I participated in the FMS photo a day challenge back in August and I have to be honest, sometimes I felt like I was scraping the bottom of the barrel to come up with a good, quality insta post some days. That’s the last time I put up so-so pics of pigs n’ a blanket or a bag of recycling – yes, I did that.

Twitter will always be one of my faves. I use it both personally and professionally. I’m thankful for the 140 character limit, because I know a few novelists over on Facebook and not the good kind!

I’m definitely not perfect and there are probably posts and pictures and god knows what else floating around out there that would make me cringe, but you live and you learn!

What’s the craziest thing you’ve seen on social media?

Hello from the other side of MO!

I *so* agree with you about the Pinterest unsourced thing…DRIVES.ME.NUTS. But even more about LinkedIn because I generally do not “get” it and then again *even more* about the ItWorks thing. I have a few friends that are hooked up with that, and while I am happy they are super psyched about it working for them…it’s now all they talk about, ever, period. I haven’t heard an update about their kids or lives beyond that in months! Gah!

I am also a fan of Shop the B Bar/The Well, and I am glad to see more of us!

I just realized I didn’t hit “reply” and I just commented separately. I wonder if that matters?! Not sure if that matters, but I didn’t want you to think I wasn’t reading!

craziest thing I see on social media is definitely people airing out their dirty laundry on facebook. It is never the place to do that. Make me embarrassed for them.

Welcome to the blogging world. I am new as well.

    xx Alecia

      Alecia,

I can definitely relate to that. People aren’t afraid to put it all out there, and not in a good way! Welcome to you as well. Love the site!

  4. I can identify with all of this! Especially the messages on LinkedIn and Facebook to become team members with people selling products. I just can’t do it!
